Areas of Responsibility

The Parish currently has a population of just over 12,000. The Parish Council aims to serve as the voice of local democracy within the community. It’s role is to identify the needs of local residents and set priorities in it’s Parish Plan. The parish has a wide range of responsibilities that are carried out through its committee structure and membership. 16 elected members serve on the Council and its Planning, Leisure and Finance sub-committees. The Parish Councillors are unpaid volunteers.

The Planning Committee meets every three weeks to make observations on planning applications within the Parish. These observations are submitted to the planning directorate at the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. The plans are available for public inspection, Monday – Friday, 9.00am – 1.00pm at the Parish Council offices.

The Leisure Committee deals with all aspects of leisure facilities within the Parish. The Parish is responsible for managing the playgrounds and parks at Blythewood, Cheapside, South Ascot and Victory Field, Sunninghill. As a community service we also cut the grass at Allens Field, South Ascot. The Parish manages a small number of allotments and maintains a section of the cemetery at St. Michaels and All Angels church. Projects undertaken within these sites form major parts of the Parish spend.

The Finance and Personnel Committee deals with financial procedures and personnel matters and meets when necessary.

All Parish meetings, except Finance and Personnel, are open to the public, and are on a Tuesday evening, starting at 7.00pm. The meetings are held at the Chandler Day Centre, Sunninghill – click here for schedule.

The Parish office is open to the public between 9.00am – 1.30pm, Mondays – Fridays. The Parish operates a One Stop Shop, on behalf of the Royal Borough, providing information and advice on Council provided services. However, the Parish is not responsible for delivering these services, such as highways, parking, schools and social services. Neither are we responsible for police or health services.
